BRATTLEBORO — The previous treasurer of the Townshend Elementary Faculty Mother or father Trainer Group pleaded not responsible Tuesday to stealing almost $6,000 from the membership between January 2020 and July 2022.
In texts provided to Windham Superior Court docket, Prison Division, Elissa Wagner, 40, of Westminster, admitted to members of the PTO that she stole the cash and that she was ashamed and embarrassed, and promised to repay the cash “as quickly as I get my life so as.”
Wagner has been charged with embezzlement and if discovered responsible might spend as much as 10 years in jail.
In keeping with an affidavit filed by Vermont State Trooper Joseph Galusha, dispatch obtained a criticism about theft of funds from the PTO on Oct. 7, 2022.
The theft got here to the eye of the PTO after it obtained financial institution statements because of the merger of Individuals’s United with M&T Financial institution.
